Tillsonburg Alliance Church (TAC) began as a bible study in 1985. The members of this small group decided to start a new church in 1986 whose priorities included vibrant worship of God, staying faithful to the truth of God's Word and being a community church known for friendliness to all attendees. After 8 years of meeting in temporary facilities in the library of Maple Lane School and the local Christian Reform Church, property at the north end of Quarterline Road was purchased and the building built. This property continues to serve the ongoing and growing needs of this vibrant Christian community. The original vision of the founding members remains very similar to the current priorities. Our vision statement says: "Under God, Tillsonburg Alliance Church is committed to connecting the unconnected to Christ and then assisting them and on another to become fully devoted followers of Christ all to the glory of God." In the summer of 2006, God directed the leadership to establish three priorities as the church moves into its next decade. These priorities are described as UP, DOWN and OUT. UP - we are committed to being God worshiper's. It is our desire to foster and grow in relationship with God. This priority comes from Mark 12:29-31 where Christ in response to the question as to which was the most important commandment: "'The most important one', answered Jesus, 'is this: Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is One. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second of this is love your neighbour as yourself. There is no greater commandments than these.'" DOWN - we are committed to growing deeper in relationship with God and each other and deeper in our understanding of God's truth; study and practice of His Word the Bible. This priority comes from Matthew 28:19,20 which says: "Therefore go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I will be with you always, to the very end of the age." OUT - we are committed to reach out into the world with the compassion and message of Christ. This comes from both the Mark and Matthew passages noted above and Micah 6:8 which says: "He has showed you O man what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your Lord." As the name suggests, Tillsonburg Alliance Church belongs to a family of worldwide churches called the Christian and Missionary Alliance.
